FLEISCHMANN, J. (1887). Fleischmann founded his company in 1887 in Nuremberg. At first, tin boats and swimming animals are produced. After 1900 the company produced models of large steamships for “Norddeutschen Lloyd” for advertising and exhibition purposes. Thus the productions of this period are mainly boats: steamships, warships, submarines. In 1939 Fleischmann acquired the Doll & Cie company and launched into the manufacture of toy trains. The company is currently known for its H0 gauge trains, which are of excellent quality.

The first series of the model was actually the name of a Chevrolet Deluxe trim. In 1953 the Bel Air became a model in its own right. In all generations that were produced, the engine was front-mounted, and the drive was rear-mounted.
