Description
Large and important soup tureen in Silver with a smooth ovoid body, made in France between 1797 and 1809 by master silversmith Jean Charles Cahier. The profiles are worked with stylised leaf and bead motifs; the body is supported by a high ovoid foot and is fitted with two forked handles with an attachment in the form of a female head and a central lid grip in the form of two facing sea monsters. The tureen has a removable inner receptacle.
