Description
This exceptional canvas is signed by one of the greatest artists of the 17th century, Antoon Van Dyck. The large painting dates back between 1621 and 1624, during the period in which – during his Italian sojourn – he also devoted himself to the study of erotic and mythological subjects, interpreted in the light of his greatest example, Titian. The goddess is depicted through light superimpositions of bronzed-golden tones and the rendering of the body is soft and luminous, as exquisitely Venetian.
